Examinations
The provision of ICT examinations is an important element of what
is offered by MCT. Currently we offer accredited examinations in:
- Equal Skills
- NetAssure
- WebStarter
- ECDL (7 modules)
To get ECDL certification all seven exams
must be passed within a three year period.
- Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) (5 modules)
Certification is awarded for each individual
module. Candidates who pass four modules are awarded the MOS Masters
Certificate (these four modules must include Word, Excel and Powerpoint
and one of either Access or Outlook)
Requirements
Examinations at MCT are open to those who have taken part in courses
held at the centre and to the general public (Fees for examinations
only i.e. when not taken as part of a MCT course are €25 per module for
ECDL and €80 for MOS.
Course Participants:
- Students must have completed the course syllabus
- Student must satisfy instructor of competence to pass exam
- Examinations postponed for those students not meeting required
competence levels
General Public:
- Centre must be contacted a minimum of 48 hours prior too
sitting the exam
- Date and time suitable to all parties will be arranged
- Exam fees must be paid in full before taking an examination
Schedule
Course Participants:
- Exam schedule determined by course instructor
- Examinations take place at end of course or module
General Public:
- Exams are scheduled according to the procedures outlined in the Requirements section

Exam Duration
The duration of the examination differs depending on the exam being
taken:
ECDL
- All exams are 45 minutes in duration
- Exams are corrected by a qualified ECDL Tester
- Exam results are not provided immediately
ECDL WebStarter
- All exams are 45 minutes in duration
- Exams are corrected by a qualified ECDL WebStarter Tester
- Exam results are not provided immediately
MOS
- 50 minutes in duration
- Undertaken using on-line examination software
- Results provided immediately on completion of exam
NetAssure
- Undertaken using on-line examination software
- Results provided immediately on completion of exam
Points to Note
- In the event of unsuccessfully sitting an examination a
further re-sit examination fee may be required. Fees to re-sit examinations
vary from examination body to examination body.
