The MCP is a year-long full-time ICT programme that is divided into two separate courses. Applications for Course 1 are accepted up to the end of November each year and for Course Two up to the end of April. Training allowances (FAS or Co Leitrim VEC) are payable to students. All applicants must be over 18 and registered with FAS.

MCP Course 1 (Computer Applications & Job Skills)

Course 1 is aimed at people with a beginners to intermediate level of computing knowledge. No prior computer knowledge is necessary but candidates must demonstrate commitment to the course.

The course is comprised of the following modules:

  - Using the Computer and File Management
  - Word Processing
  - Spreadsheets
  - Databases
  - Presentation
  - Information and Communication
• Beginner's HTML - Web site design
• NetAssure
  - Malware
  - Spyware
  - Spam
• Computer Maintenance (Hardware)
• First Aid

This course runs from mid-January to end of April each year.

MCP Course 2 (Advanced Computer Applications & Web Design)

This course is aimed at people with an intermediate level of computing knowledge (Successful Course 1 students can progress onto Course 2) and is comprised of the following modules:

  - Excel Expert
  - Outlook
• Web Design
  - HTML
  - Dreamweaver
  - ECDL WebStarter
• Computer Maintenance (Operating Systems)

  - Interview Techniques
• Personal Development
• Work Experience
  - 1 Month

This course runs from May to December of each year.

Each course provides incremental training and candidates may either progress from Course 1 to Course 2 or enter training at Course 2.
